Join the "Good Trouble" Call Squad!
Monday, June 9th, 6PM-8PM, Address Upon RSVP
We have been having great success connecting constituents with Congressman Bresnahan in PA-08 and Senator McCormick in an effort to persuade these elected officials to heed the demands of the voters who put them there, and reject the massive cuts to Medicaid and SNAP programs that affect more than a million Pennsylvanians.
Last week, our Call Squad connected 125 voters to McCormick's office! They left personal messages about their desire to protect funding for these foundational programs, blowing up the senator's phone line, and keeping up a relentless outcry against the MAGA agenda.
And everyone on the Call Squad is having fun reaching so many people, having good conversations and seeing their actions lead to a tangible result. We have two more "Good Trouble" phone banks scheduled for June 18th and June 25th.

Canvass Pottstown to Save SEPTA/Schools
Sunday, June 8th, 11AM, Allen Lane Train Station
Pennsylvania's budget must be passed by the end of June. One senator - Tracy Pennycuick in Pottstown - may be the key to whether SEPTA will avoid making deep service cuts and whether underfunded school districts like Philadelphia, Norristown, Pottstown, and Chester-Upland will get the money that they need to properly educate our young people.
You can help her to make the right decision. Our Blue Pennsylvania Team is heading up to Pottstown this Sunday, June 8th to canvass at friendly doors, informing people about the budget, and giving them the resources they need to contact their legislators. Cars leave from Allen Lane Train Station at 11 am to arrive in Pottstown at 12 noon. If you are interested in joining us, please contact Coleman Poses.

Join Our Block Cleanup Crew!
Saturday, June 14th, 10AM-12PM, Vernon Park, 5800 Germantown Ave.
Ready to roll up your sleeves and put in two hours of community work?
Then join us as we conduct our first Block Cleanup of the Summer in the neighborhood of Vernon Park. We are doing this in conjunction with our friend Rep. Andre Carroll and partners as one of the ways to demonstrate that we're willing to be real allies, not just someone who shows up at election time.
We'll have bags and some equipment, but if you can bring a broom that would be very helpful! We'll meet in front of the "Center In the Park" building, have some snacks and light refreshments and decide on street assignments. Then we'll get to work!
Can't do it then, but want to help? Let us know and we'll keep you informed.

Call Out Tax Cuts to the Philthy Rich!
Mayor Parker has called for eliminating most Philadelphia business taxes including those paid by wealthy businesses. And City Council is poised not only to adopt that plan but to raise taxes on 90,000 small, local businesses this year!
It makes no sense to adopt a long term tax cut plan when we are possibly facing drastic cuts in federal funding under the Trump administration. The elimination of business taxes would add about 30,000 jobs, but only 6,000 of them would go to current Philadelphians. And the cost in lost revenues over ten years is more than $1 billion.
Tell City Council to protect small local businesses, not wealthy conglomerates!

"Time to Stand Up" Town Hall
Monday, June 30th, 6PM-8PM, 5600 W. Girard Ave.
The Coalition to Defend Democracy, of which PNN is a founding member, is conducting our second "Time to Stand Up" Town Hall at the Vine Memorial Baptist church located at 5600 W. Girard Ave on the last day of June.
You'll hear from organizing leaders about the key issues we're facing right now and, more importantly, you'll take part in the planning of actions to fight back against this fascist regime.
This event will focus mostly on budget issues at the state, federal and local levels, including housing, SNAP, education, civil rights, DEI and government workers.
We will also make outreach calls to our senators at the meeting, to amplify our voices collectively when pressure can be most effective.

Unite for Veterans Watch Party
Friday, June 6th, 1:30PM, 22 South 22nd Street
Join Federal Unionists Network at AFL-CIO HQ at 22nd and Market to watch the Unite for Veterans Rally in DC, including a live performance from Dropkick Murphys, meet allies and stay informed. This is one of many actions being taken to protect the hundreds of thousands of Federal workers the Trump Administration threatens with a policy that would make it easy to fire them and replace them with political loyalists.

Clinic Protection Rally
Saturday, June 7th, 8AM, 6th Street & Race Street
The so-called "right-to-life" crowd is back at it next weekend and they plan to harass the folks who use the Women's Health Clinic on 8th & Appletree Street, just north of Arch Street. We will meet at Franklin Square a few blocks away on 6th and Race for speeches, then march together to the clinic to await the arrival of this bunch of busy bodies and block them from entering the street in front of the clinic.

"No Kings" Rally
Saturday, June 14th, 12PM, LOVE Park, 15th & JFK Blvd.
Saturday, June 14th is Flag Day. It is also the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army - two special celebrations for our nation.
Sadly, it's the day the Tangerine Traitor - a man who ducked the draft and coddles dictators - has demanded a military parade for his birthday. Activists won't be in D.C. for this event because it would only help the arrogant sociopath claim they were there for him!
So, instead of heading to the nation's capital, Philadelphia has been selected as the National Anchor for a June 14th "No Kings" Rally!
Bring signs and enthusiasm as we start our rally at Love Park at Noon. Then we'll march to the Art Museum for the rally, where you'll hear from a broad range of speakers.
Want to be a Peacekeeper? We are looking for marshals/peacekeepers to help direct the big crowd we anticipate and deescalate potential conflict.

This Week in History
June 6, 1944 – D Day Invasion. Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy on this day to begin the liberation of western Europe from the Nazis.
June 9, 1954 – “Have you no sense of decency?” Army Special Counsel Joseph Welch, lashed out at Red-baiter Senator Joseph McCarthy during hearings on whether communism had infiltrated the armed forces, effectively ending McCarthy’s reign of political terror.
June 12, 1963 – Medgar Evers Shot. On this day, Civil Rights leader Medgar Evers was assassinated in his driveway. He worked for the NAACP and was also instrumental in getting evidence for the Emmett Till murder case.
Thanks for your activism!
