PNN’s mission is to engage, educate and empower our neighbors to make our City a better place to live. Here’s what’s coming up:
_________________________________ PNN Actions __________________________________________________ Rabb Town Hall with Jamie RaskinFriday, May 8th, 2:30PM, 1906 Rittenhouse Square TODAY at 2:30PM, Congressman Jamie Raskin will join our endorsed candidate Chris Rabb for a Town Hall. The format is an interview with Raskin conducted by Rabb and the topics will cover everything from the political climate in Washington, to the tough issues we face in our near future, to what it takes to be an effective Member of Congress. It's an opportunity to hear from our endorsed candidate, especially in light of the deceptive attacks from dark money operatives in the last weeks of the campaign. The event is free to all, but the campaign will welcome contributions. Come out to the Ethical Society on Rittenhouse Square this Friday afternoon for a great event! _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Rabb Canvass at Lovett LibrarySaturday, May 9th, 10AM, Lovett Library Park As the race for the Third Congressional seat becomes more urgent, candidates know that their base supporters could well make the difference in what will be a close election. That is why we have been asked to join with our allies at Mt. Airy Dems to remind likely supporters that they can't stay home this election. So join us on Saturday for a few hours of knocking on doors (with a canvass buddy, if you want) and reminding our neighbors in Mt. Airy to turn up and vote on Tuesday, May 19th for our endorsed candidate, Chris Rabb. We will meet in the park in front of the library at 6945 Germantown Avenue (look for us at the tables). We'll provide you with materials and an easy script. Please take a moment to download/refresh MiniVAN and make sure you have your UserID & Password updated. You'll receive a list to load onto your phone and sufficient fliers for your turf. The weather will be 60 and sunny - perfect for canvassing! Kindly click below to let us know you'll be there. They'll need a place to sleep for as little as a few days and as long as the day after Election Day. If you have a bed or couch these volunteers can use, let us know and we'll get you connected. Housing Support_____________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Big Ask: Help Rabb on Election DayTuesday, May 19th, All Day, Various Shifts This election will come down to a small margin, so having someone to represent Chris Rabb at the polls is very important. This race will be won "in the trenches" on Election Day. As neighbors come to cast their vote, we need to be visible and engaging at every polling location - to counter the ubiquitous party machine and dark money investors in the status quo. Your presence will give voters a viable option out of politics-as-usual. And your words can inform and inspire folks to vote in their best interest. Now, here's the Big Ask: Will you take off from work on Election Day to engage neighbors at their polling location as they are about to vote? Or can you do at least one shift at the polls? Use this form to let folks know where and when you can work! Election Day Poll Worker_____________________________________________________________________________________________________ State Candidate EndorsementsThe votes are in and PNN members have chosen to endorse Art Haywood for PA Senate District 4; Sierra McNeil for PA House District 195; Chris Johnson for PA House District 200; and Andre Carrol, PA House District 201. As part of our endorsement process, our Steering Committee distributed Questionnaires to our state candidates. After reading them, we interviewed candidates about the issues they'll face in Harrisburg: They appear in the following order: HD195 candidate Sierra McNeil; and HD200 candidate Chris Johnson, HD201 State Representative Andre Carroll, and SD4 State Senator Art Haywood. Teach-InMonday, May 11th, 5:30-8PM, First Unitarian Church How did life become so unaffordable? How have corporations and billionaires rigged the rules? And most importantly: What can we do about it? We’re pulling back the curtain on the affordability crisis in our “Who Broke Pennsylvania’s Economy” teach-in. Join this fun and informative teach-in about how our government was used against us by the morbidly wealthy to gain even more wealth, how this affects our tax rates, and what legislation we can use to create a fairer economy for all of us. The teach-in will take place on Monday at First Unitarian Church located at 2125 Chestnut Street.
