PNN Newsletter: Movie Night, Special Election, Do Your Part, More

PNN’s mission is to engage, educate and empower our neighbors to make our City a better place to live. Here’s what’s coming up in each of these areas:

  • Engage: Movie Night at Belfield Rec Center

  • Educate: Do Your Part This Election - Buddy Canvass & Postcards!

  • Empower: Sep 17th Special Election for Andre Carroll

Ready to Do Your Part to Elect Kamala Harris?

Now thru Election Day, in Mt Airy/Germantown

Sign up to canvass in Wards 22 and 59 (and elsewhere) to talk with voters (particularly, low-turnout) about Kamala Harris' record and plans for the future, the nefarious plans of Trump/Vance and the GOP's Project 2025, and why their vote can make the difference.  If Philly has a big turnout, we win Pennsylvania.

If you'd like to help now through Election Day, whether it's buddy canvassing, postcards, voter registration, or make phone calls, please click below to let us know.

PNN Postcard Campaign Gets Off to a Rousing Start

Join Us for the Next Ones

Twenty eight (28) PNN Supporters and Friends showed up at our first Postcard Writing Gathering on Sept 12 and wrote inspiring messages to six hundred (600) infrequent voters who live in apartment buildings in North and Northwest Philly.

Studies show that people who receive a handwritten postcard are more likely to vote.  We had a blast and there’s more postcard  events coming up each week. We have the postcards, labels, pens, stamps, and some suggested messages. All we need is you to show up to help make a difference in this close election in our swing State.

Sign up for the dates, times and locations you are available:

This Week in History

Sep 15, 1963 – Birmingham Four. On this day, 16th Street Baptist Church was bombed by four known Klansmen, murdering four black girls who were practicing for choir. The site remains a rallying place for Civil Rights.

Sep 17, 2011 – Occupy Wall Street. The protest started when citizens "Occupied" Zuccotti Park in NYC's Financial District to protest against how the poor and wealthy are treated differently in society. It captures the zeitgeist of the moment and Occupy encampments spread across the nation.

Sep 22, 1862 – Emancipation Proclamation. Following the Union Army's victory at Antietam, Abraham Lincoln announced that enslaved people in areas still in rebellion within 100 days would be free. He followed up in January with a formal document detailing this presidential order.

Thanks for your activism!
