Poor People's Moral March on Washington

Saturday, June 29th, 10AM, 3rd & Pennsylvania Ave, D.C.


Join the Poor People's Campaign and allies for a gathering of poor people, low-wage workers, faith leaders and advocates in our nation's Capital.


Led by Bishop William Barber, the PPC will be uplifting and centering the needs of the over 135 million poor and low-income people in this country – demanding that those running for office this year embrace a moral public policy agenda that ends poverty as the fourth-leading cause of death in this country.

21st Annual Ngoma Tribute to the Drum

Sunday, June 30th, 12PM-7PM, Stenton Park


Join PNN and neighbors for the 21st Annual Ngoma Tribute to the Drum. This event will be held at Stenton Park, located at 1701 W. Courtland St. There will be African drumming, dance, spoken word, vendors for this family-fun event.


Look for our table and at least one of us playing in a drum circle. We'll have some new PNN tee shirts available for our friends, so just ask us at the table. Bring chairs, blankets, instruments and good vibes as we gather to get our groove on!

Reparations Town Hall

Saturday, June 29th, 11AM-2PM, 4308 Woodland Ave.


The the Philadelphia Reparations Task Force will be hosting its first Reparations Town Hall at the McNeil Science and Technology Center located at 4308 Woodland Ave. The town hall will be an opportunity for community members to join task force committees and offer feedback on our harm and repair research agenda. It is an opportunity to learn more on how we can enforce the city's existing Slavery Disclosure & Financial Reparations Laws in Philadelphia.

This Week in History


June 28, 1969 – Stonewall Riots. Regarded as America's first major protest on behalf of equal rights for LGBTQ people, a police raid of the popular Stonewall Inn was met with staunch resistance from patrons and local sympathizers.


July 2, 1964 – Civil Rights Act. On this day, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law the historic Civil Rights Act during a nationally televised ceremony at the White House.


July 4, 1776 – U.S. is Born. The United States came into existence in our hometown, as the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence from Great Britain and its king.
