No Kings March

Saturday, March 28th, 12:30PM, Ben Franklin Parkway

Join us next Saturday, March 28th at LOVE Park to kick off the third national "No Kings" March. We'll start with a rallying speech before the march make its way up the Parkway to 22nd Street for the final rally.

This event is an opportunity to demonstrate that we will stand together to defend ourselves and our communities against authoritarian rule. We understand that America does not belong to strongmen, greedy billionaires, or those who rule through fear. It belongs to us, we the people. We hope you'll join us to show this tyrant that we will not be cowed into surrendering our democracy by his fascist bullies.

We anticipate that millions of patriots across the nation will join us in the streets for this reminder that our nation was founded as a democracy and that we are ready to defend it. We will provide more details as they become available, but kindly use this opportunity to set a reminder.

Join us on Tuesday evening at Das Good Cafe to make signs for the upcoming No Kings actions. This is a chance to connect with like-minded neighbors and have a good time in the midst of the chaos. We will have cardboard and paint, but please feel free to bring more materials for this fun event!

Our allies at "Peace, Justice, Sustainability Now" will be holding simultaneous rallies at the office of Senators John Fetterman (2nd & Chestnut) and Dave McCormick (20th & Market), calling for them to stand up to Trump's takeover of their war powers.

Walking Tour: Black Families Lives in Children's Books

Saturday, March 21st, 10AM-12PM, 5501 Germantown Ave

This walking tour by PNN member Barbara McDowell Dowdall and Germantown Crier's Susan Bockius will explore sites that inspired Marguerite de Angeli’s ground-breaking children’s book "Bright April" and trace progress from white authors portraying African American families to the days both before and after when Black writers had the opportunity. Light refreshments will be provided.

Weekly ICE Vigil

Monday, March 23rd 11AM, 114 North 8th Street

Join State Senator Art Haywood and allies as we keep vigil at the local Center City ICE office to call out their bad behavior. Keeping a regular presence is a way to remind them that we are watching and to remind our fellow citizens that while it looks like life is going on as usual, we cannot allow ourselves to accommodate fascism.

Mar 26, 1953 – Salk Announces Vaccine. With polio crippling more than 50,000 citizens, Dr. Jonas Salk announced that his laboratory had found a vaccine to protect against what many called "infant paralysis" because it mainly affected children.
