Don't Miss Our All-Hands Meeting!
Saturday, January 25th, 2-4PM, 5722 Greene Street (GLEC)
Our 2025 All-Hands Meeting promises to be the most consequential in our 20-year history! We will be meeting as a community just as Donald Trump completes his first week in office. We anticipate chaos.
We will meet at the Germantown Life Enrichment Center (better known as GLEC), located at 5722 Greene Street, across from Vernon Park. There is free parking at the lot next door.
Here's what to expect at our meeting:
Our keynote address will be given by Mike Lee, Executive Director of ACLU Pennsylvania.
Other speakers, including State Senator Art Haywood; Marc Stier, Executive Director of the PA Policy Center; SEIU's Wendell Royster and Rev. Greg Holston, will address the crises we'll face from the new regime, and what we plan to do about it.
You'll hear from subject matter experts about how we plan to defend our Civil Rights & Liberties - on issues like immigration, abortion, free speech, and prison justice.
We'll talk about how to Protect our Social Services against an onslaught of federal cuts in programs such housing, education, health care, Medicare and Social Security, and how our state and city elected officials can step up to provide needed services, as well as what we can do as neighbors to support each other.
You can take part in one of our Breakout Sessions on these issues.
You'll learn about the work already underway on local campaigns right here in Philly against the billionaire class that Trump is fronting for.
And we will share ideas that we and our allies are developing to strengthen our connections to communities around the city, and across the state.
Sign up below to be a part of this in-person meeting, so that we can reflect on the first week of chaos from the trump administration and, equally important, how we can respond together as a team to build stronger communities.

Join the People's March
Saturday, January 18th, 10AM, City Hall North, 1401 JFK Blvd.
While Trump fills his administration with unqualified politicians and billionaires committed to do industry's bidding, everyday people are going to pay the price. But it doesn't have to be this way. That's why thousands of us are gathering in 290 cities across the nation two days before Trump's inauguration to send a clear message: true power comes from the people.
Philly Neighborhood Networks will be joining allies all across the city for a "People's March" to protest the coming fascist administration two days before the inauguration of the 47th president.
We'll meet on the North Apron of City Hall. The march will start at 10AM at City Hall where we'll hear speakers, and then head towards the Art Museum for the rally.

Make Your Voice Heard on Cabinet Confirmations
The Confirmation Hearings on President-Elect Trump’s candidates for Cabinet positions are now upon us. Votes in the Senate will be happening soon. The main Republican criterion for these nominations is that candidates are loyal to Trump and the right wing MAGA agenda.
As we know, many of them are unqualified or downright dangerous and are not committed to uphold the constitution and the rule of law. If approved, these individuals will assume control of federal agencies that touch every aspect of our lives—agencies responsible for protecting our health, securing our nation, and ensuring justice.
While we may not be able to oppose all 54 nominees, allies and advocates are focusing on those who pose the biggest threat to our democracy. These include:
· Pete Hegseth for Sec of Defense – He is a right-wing propagandist and Fox News commentator who lacks the experience to lead one of the largest government departments that is critical to our national security and defense.
· Kash Patel for FBI Director – A trump loyalist with a history of undermining justice who would have no hesitation to weaponize the FBI to go against Trump’s perceived list of enemies.
· Russell Vought for OMB Director – The architect of Project 2025, designed to dismantle federal programs and concentrate power.
· RFK Jr. for Secretary of Health and Human Services – A notorious anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist whose nomination would threaten public health and safety.
This is our critical moment to act. The Senate hearings are our best opportunity to expose just how dangerous these nominees are. Here’s some information of how to contact our Senators to oppose the cabinet nominees:
Sen. John Fetterman – Call: (215) 241-1090 (Phila); (202)224-4254 (Washington, D.C.) Send a message: https://www.fetterman.senate.gov/contact/
Sen. David McCormick – Call: (215)405-9660 (Phila); (202) 224-6324 (Washington, D.C.) Send a message: https://www.mccormick.senate.gov
Let your voice be heard on these terrible nominees.

Jan 20, 1870 – First Black Senator. Hiram Rhodes Revels was elected to the U.S. Senate, becoming the first African American to serve in the U.S. Congress. Revels was elected in Mississippi to fill the vacancy left after the state’s secession from the Union prior to the Civil War.
Jan 21, 1946 – Steel Workers Strike. Facing economic hardships after returning from the war, 750,000 steel workers went on strike for better pay and working hours and to protest mass firings by steel mill owners.
Jan 22, 1973 – Roe v. Wade. On this day, the Supreme Court ruled in a 7-2 decision, that a woman’s right to choose an abortion was protected by the privacy rights guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment. On June 24th, 2022 a reactionary Supreme Court overturned it in 6-3 decision.
