Philadelphia is not helpless. Our city has the resources to create real opportunity and to improve people’s lives. The problem is that too much of that wealth sits in too few hands — and too much of what we already own is put to work somewhere else. Our own pension funds, with assets of $10.67 BILLION, are managed on Wall Street and invested everywhere but here.

Project Beloved Community is a practical strategy to mobilize the resources already in the city, reclaim the public assets placed under Wall Street control, and put them to work for Philadelphians. The goal is simple: lift up our city by directly lifting up the people who live here.
