By Conni Bille

Meeting at the Urban Cafe in Germantown on November 14, ten local citizens who had worked tirelessly to organize the door-to-door canvassing of the Obama campaign met to celebrate and look ahead toward becoming more involved in issues that, "affect us right here in the community."

Conni Bille offered a toast "to the most important team in a key district at ground zero in the most critical city, in the most critical state, in the most important election of our lifetime for the country and the world!"

Paula Paul received heartfelt thanks for organizing the luncheon. Cherron Perry-Thomas praised her saying "You called me the very next day. It was important that we get together again."

"This is a great community and we can have an impact. Middle class people need to be more involved" said Mary Randall, who talked about programs she had led with college bound students and their parents. Dennis Barnebey said he had decided that he really wanted to work on local issues more than on national campaigns. Tracey Parker, who organizes children's programs professionally, talked of how many skills we all have to share.
